This seminar will provide therapists with an overview of the divorce process and a familiarity with the different options that couples have in how to get divorced. This presentation recognizes the pivotal role that therapists can serve in helping guide couples to work out their divorce in the best way possible. With a focus on mediation and the new and important interdisciplinary "Collaborative Divorce" model, therapists will have a greater insight to help clients assess which process would best serve their clients and families when divorce is inevitable. 


Qualifications:

Adam Berner specializes in mediation and collaborative family law and is the owner of the Berner Law & Mediation Group, with offices in Manhattan and Hackensack (NJ). As a pioneer in the family dispute resolution field for the past 25 years he has served as President of the Family & Divorce Mediation Council of NY and Founding President of the NJ Collaborative Law Group. In addition to his private practice, Adam is a mediation trainer and adjunct professor at Cardozo School of Law where he teaches mediation and collaborative law.
