This class offers a comprehensive exploration of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and its diverse manifestations across the continuum, with a specific emphasis on the pediatric and adolescent populations. Given the intricate nature and frequent co-morbidities associated with ASD, participants will gain invaluable insights into advanced techniques and strategies aimed at anticipating, analyzing, and resolving complex behaviors. This includes the development of effective behavior plans, implementation of self-monitoring systems, and the utilization of visual schedules as practical solutions. Additionally, this new training provides a nuanced perspective on the multifaceted challenges confronted by parents and presents opportunities for providing meaningful support.

Qualifications:
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will summarize the characteristics and variance in manifestation of ASD.
- Participants will identify tools and strategies to support individuals with ASD and their families.
- Participants will recognize and identify the A, B, C (e.g. antecedent, behavior, consequence of the behavior) associated with behavior.
Agenda:
-Description of ASD and varying manners in its manifestation (60 minutes)
-Analyzing behavior using the ABCs (10 minutes)
-Strategies, tools, and guidelines to address behavior and teach new skills (e.g. teaching new skills / new behaviors, addressing adverse and inappropriate behavior) (20 minutes)
15 minute break
-CONTINUED: Strategies, tools, and guidelines to address behavior and teach new skills (45 minutes)
-Challenges that parents and families experience (15 minutes)
-Everyday challenges and strategies to support individuals with ASD (15 minutes)
-Video, review and summarize; Q & A (15 minutes)
