Webinar Description
Drugs that induce a distinctive subjective altered state of consciousness, collectively referred to as “psychedelics,” stand to revolutionize the treatment of mental disorders. At present only one such drug, ketamine, is FDA approved for human use and, therefore, can be prescribed (off-label) to treat mental illness. However, many more psychedelics are under development including MDMA and psilocybin, which have been given “fast track” designation by the FDA. In this presentation, Dr. Feifel will provide an overview of the psychedelics, focusing on ketamine, but discussing others such NMDA and psilocybin, and their impact on the treatment of mental illness.
